When I bought my Jamis I knew that I would want to make some modifications and additions to it. Now I feel I'm almost done and I'm really happy -- even more so than when I first got the bike. Here's a list of what I've done so far:
- Added my SPD is the platform cage
- Chopped down my flat handlebars so they're now as wide as most drops
- Replaced the useless too skinny Ritchey bar ends with RavX Stubby which are way more comfy and versatile.
- Added lights, a bottle cage, and a bike pump
- New bike helmet with orange accents that matches my bike
- Added a Timbuk2 saddle bag that is orange matching my bike (contains tools, patch kit and micro towel)
- Got a new bike lock that can actually mount to my bike
No rack as of yet. Instead, I've decided to just use a backpack when I need it. Monday morning I'll bring all my work shirts prepped for the week, and Friday I'll take them all home. That way for most of the week I'll ride with my back free and clear and sans rack.
Still not sure how I'm gonna set up for touring. I might get an Old Man Mountain rack as they are set up for bikes that don't have braze-ons. Or I might go the BOB trailer route.
I also might just set my old Trek up as my main touring/camping bike. In any case, that can wait for a bit.

That's a good idea about bringing the clothes you will wear at the beginning of the week! I hadn't thought of that.
